In order to apply for licenses for research through the University Program you must:
- Be currently enrolled in, or a professor currently employed
by, a college or university in a country qualifying for free academic
licenses.
- Have faculty sponsorship if you are a student.
- Agree that no work
will be done by the employee, contractor or agent of commercial
organizations or for-profit organizations.
- Agree that the software shall not be
used in furtherance of any business activities or uses, whether
or not a payment is made or is expected. Licensee is not authorized
to sublicense, distribute, sell, or rent access to the software,
or use the software as part of a service bureau, or other program
sharing activity. The individual licensee is the only eligible
user.
- Agree
that all work done with the aid of donated OPNET Technologies, Inc. software
and tools will be done on premises at your current university.
- Any
materials, inventions, or findings produced by the recipient, directly
or indirectly, through the use of donated OPNET Technologies, Inc. software
must enter the public domain upon completion, i.e., the completed
work will be free for all to use.
- Understand that OPNET Technologies, Inc. reserves the unconditional right to terminate any license agreement
at any time.
- Complete a license agreement.
- Create a web page describing how the
Research With OPNET license is being utilized and submit the URL
before renewal.
- Participants must also provide progress reports, such as drafts of papers, final papers, lab material and sample models to OPNET Technologies, Inc. every license renewal period. OPNET Technologies, Inc. would also like to receive copies of published papers or theses upon the completion of the project. Papers must reference OPNET in order for licenses to be approved for extension. Papers can be uploaded with the application for renewal or directly to our Contributed Papers Library. Example models should be uploaded directly to the Contributed Model Depot. If possible, documentation should be provided in PostScript form and in HTML format. Please note clearly if any distribution restrictions apply.
