In the Department of Telecommunications - we have deployed the OPNET Software in the Wireless Lab to help design, develop and analyze the performance of various networks, particularly concentrating on the IEEE 802.11 WLAN.

Using OPNET and its radio modules we are designing networks and fine-tuning specific simulation parameters with experimental measurements obtained for the WLAN deployed in the school. Further the software compliments teaching activities and laboratory exercises handed out to the students with respect to courses such as Network Performance (TELCOM 2120), Mobile Data Networks (TELCOM 2320) and Local Area Networks (TELCOM 2320).

OPNET will be the tool in exploring possibilities for furthering our research in optimizing the performance of Wireless Local and Personal Area Networks.
