We are using OPNET for: Research with OPNET: Dynamic Wavelength Routing in WDM Optical Networks We study the dynamic wavelength routing and wavelength assignment algorithms in optical networks. In wavelength-routed WDM networks, a control mechanism is required to set up and take down all-optical connections. Upon an arrival of a connection request, the mechanism must be able to select a route and assign a wavelength to the connection, which plays a key role in improving the network performance. We develop algorithms and investigate the network performance by setting up the analytic models with different algorithms. OPNET is used for simulating the performance of the proposed mechanisms and its results are compared with our analytic results. OPNET is powerful, flexible, clear and convenient in network modeling and simulating. |
