Introduction to OPNET Modeler
Level
Introductory
Duration
3 days
Type
Instructor-led, classroom-based training. Students will complete hands-on labs throughout the course.
Prerequisites
Experience with C/C++ programming will be helpful, but not necessary
Description
OPNET Modeler provides you with a modeling and simulation environment for designing communication protocols and network equipment. Network technology designers using OPNET Modeler gain a better understanding of design trade-offs earlier in the product development process. This reduces the need for time-intensive and expensive hardware prototyping.
Through labs and lecture, this course teaches you the fundamental concepts and mechanics of Modeler (including wireless). It covers model building and approach, hierarchy, modeling in the Project, Node and Process Editors, and many other features. By the end of the class, students will have used most of the Modeler features.
OPNET Modeler includes the standard model library (as do IT Guru and SP Guru) and has additional functionality that enables you to customize these models and author new models from scratch. This customization and authoring functionality is emphasized in this session.
