Familiarity with Guru or Sentinel
Description
VNE Server collects network data from disparate sources and intelligently merges this information into a unified network representation. VNE Server provides a complete framework for continuous, unattended management of network information and enables the creation of a high-fidelity, behavioral model of your production network called the Virtual Network Environment (VNE). VNE Server's behavioral network model can be used for network diagramming, network documentation, network planning and design, configuration assurance, and situational awareness.
This introductory session provides an overview of VNE Server functionality, including the types of data that VNE Server collects, and workflows for implementing VNE Server. High-level topics covered include:
- Building the network data model with VNE Server
- Using the network data stored in VNE Server
- Importing VNE Server data into OPNET analysis software
Users who will benefit from this session include both new users of VNE Server and users of OPNET analysis software interested in how VNE Server can facilitate their workflows. The import techniques available in OPNET analysis solutions make VNE Server an invaluable resource for starting a variety of analyses. Users are strongly encouraged to attend Session 1374 as a follow-on to this session. Session 1374 provides in-depth coverage focusing specifically on network import and visualization options and techniques available in OPNET analysis software.
Advanced users interested in configuring and administering VNE Server to collect data from specific sources should consider attending Session 1372. Users should also consider attending Session 1373 for other advanced topics related to VNE Server configuration and management.
The following topics are covered:
- Functional overview of VNE Server
- Building the Virtual Network Environment
- Overview of VNE Server implementation
- Configuring and viewing VNE Server using the web-based GUI
- Examining network data in VNE Server
- Creating device groups in VNE Server
- Importing network data into OPNET analysis software from VNE Server
