Introduction to Administering VNE Server

(1.5 days)

Scchedule and registration

Prerequisites:
Basic understanding of networks and network applications.

Course Description:

Important: There are two training classes available for IT Sentinel and SP Sentinel, as there are typically two types of users.  Be sure you sign up for the correct class (see descriptions below).  If there are any questions, please email training@opnet.com.

Introduction to Using IT Sentinel and SP Sentinel is a one-day class for those users who need to import previously-collected data from VNE Server, generate reports from this data, and review and analyze these reports.  Most users of Sentinel only need to take this class.

Introduction to Administering VNE Server is a 1.5-day class for those users who need to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot the data collection engine (which Sentinel uses as a basis for its reports).  Typically only a small subset of users of Sentinel need to take this class.

OPNET consultants usually perform the initial installation and setup of VNE Server. This class is designed to prepare a customer who wants to maintain and modify the products after this setup period. It is not meant for the user who will mainly read the reports generated by these products (see “Introduction to Using IT Sentinel and SP Sentinel” above).

Agenda:

  • Methodologies, capabilities, and features of VNE Server
  • Installation and configuration.
  • Connecting VNE Server to OPNET's test lab and import topology and traffic data
  • Connect directly to network devices and obtain information from third party management systems
  • Import a model of this network and automate the generation and publishing of reports to the Report Server
