Services

The OPNET wireless module and the WLAN model provide high-fidelity modeling, simulation, and analysis of wireless networks, including the RF environment, interference, transmitter/receiver characteristics, full protocol stack, including MAC, routing, higher layer protocols and applications. Furthermore, the ability to incorporate node mobility and interconnection with wire-line transport networks provide a rich and realistic modeling environment. Some of the 802.11 features include:

  • Support for 802.11a, b, e, g
  • DCF / PCF MAC algorithms
  • HCF EDCA mechanisms with TXOP frame bursting
  • Support for QoS facility of 802.11e
  • Optional block-acknoledgement and no-acknoledgement operations of 802.11e
  • Exponential back-off – reduced collision probability
  • Reliable data transmission via RTS-CTS exchange
  • Fragmentation (threshold based)
  • Mixed 11b/11g wireless LANs with CTS-to-self protection
  • Interoperability of 11e and non-11e capable nodes
  • Physical Layer: FHSS, IR, DSSS, OFDM, Extended Rate PHY-OFDM
  • Auto-assignment of channels to BSSs (optional)
  • Multiple data rates
  • Various modulation schemes: DPSK, BPSK, QPSK, CCK, QAM-16, QAM-64
  • Roaming
  • Support for 802.11n is available through the OPNET Contributed Model Library
