  • Implementations of the OPNET VNE Server as a component of other OPNET solutions such as IT Sentinel, SP Sentinel, nCompass for Enterprises, or nCompass for Service Providers.

1. OPNET software is supported on the English language version of each operating system.
2. OPNET VNE Server is supported on 64-bit editions of Windows operating systems but does not exploit the associated 64-bit addressing capabilities.  OPNET VNE Server is not supported on the Windows 2003 Web Edition operating system.
3. Supported under Windows Server 2003 instances, running within virtual machines hosted by VMware ESX Server 2.0 and 3.0, subject to the following notes and limitations.

OPNET VNE Server will not operate on machines with the Intel Itanium processor.
4. OPNET VNE server performance will improve with more available memory as network size increases.
5. A dual-processor configuration is recommended.
6. Front-Side Bus (FSB) speed affects the speed of data transfer to and from the OPNET VNE Server database; faster bus speeds will improve OPNET VNE Server performance.


OPNET VNE Server is configured to perform its own data management by default. Users migrating from OPNET VNE Server 4.0 may choose to instead use their Oracle database for data management. In this case, note the following system requirements related to Oracle.
