An implementation of Sentinel comprises the following components:
- The VNE Server for Sentinel
- The back-end Oracle database required by VNE Server
- Sentinel Analysis and Automation
- The Report Server for Sentinel
There are two approaches for implementing Sentinel:
on multiple platforms, and on a single multi-processor
platform.
Multiple-platform implementation:
VNE Server
VNE Server and the back-end Oracle database can be implemented
on a single dual-processor platform with a relatively
fast front-side bus, or on separate platforms. They
must be co-located.
| RAM |
2GB, 3GB+ recommended |

Disk Space: |
20GB, 60GB+ recommended |
| Processor: |
2.4GHz Pentium
4 or equivalent, 3.0GHz+ recommended; 800 MHz front-side
bus strongly recommended |
Sentinel Analysis and Automation
| RAM |
2GB, 3GB+ recommended |
| Free Disk
Space: |
20GB, 40GB+ recommended |
| Processor: |
2.4GHz Pentium
4 or equivalent, 3.0GHz+ recommended |
Report Server
The Report Server is neither memory nor compute intensive.
Disk requirements will depend on the user's practices
for archiving, etc. Users may decide to implement the
Report Server on an existing server with other internal
web-based applications.
| RAM |
512
MB |
| Free
Disk Space: |
20GB recommended,
disk space requirements highly dependent on the
volume of reports produced and stored on the report
server. |
| Processor: |
1.0 GHz Pentium III, 4, or compatible |
Single-platform implementation:
A single multi-processor platform may not deliver performance
comparable to multiple platforms with equivalent total
processors due to differences in the maximum front-side
bus speed.
However, if all components are to be installed on a
single platform, the requirements are as follows:
| RAM |
4GB+ |
| Free Disk
Space: |
200GB |
| Processor: |
4-way 2.4
GHz Intel Xeon or Pentium 4. |
