OPNET Introduces Proactive Change Validation for IT Sentinel® and SP Sentinel®
Enhancements Enable IT Organizations to Better Manage Operational Risks Associated with Network Configuration ChangesBETHESDA, MD – December 19, 2007 – OPNET Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPNT), a leading provider of solutions for managing networks and applications, today announced significant new functionality for IT Sentinel and SP Sentinel, software appliances for network audit, security, and policy-compliance. This release introduces Proactive Change Validation, a feature that enables network administrators to assess changes prior to their deployment into the production network.
This new standard feature complements Sentinel’s automated network configuration auditing with on-demand analysis of proposed changes to quickly predict their impact prior to deployment. The work flow is initiated through a simple web-based interface, and leverages Sentinel’s powerful configuration assurance engine. It identifies errors, device misconfigurations, policy violations, inefficiencies, and security gaps that would result from introducing the planned changes.
Sentinel possesses a unique understanding of how network devices interact based on their respective configurations. Consequently, it is able to detect many configuration issues that traditional configuration management tools cannot. Sentinel’s Proactive Change Validation integrates its configuration assurance into the change management process, enabling organizations to more effectively manage risks associated with configuration change.
