Independent Industry Analyst Report Ranks OPNET as One of Seven Public Software Companies with Eleven or More Consecutive Years of Growth and Profitabilit
BETHESDA, MD –September 21, 2006 – OPNET Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPNT), a leading provider of management software for networks and applications, today announced that it has been ranked seventh in the Cape Horn Strategies 2006 Sustained Success Honor Roll.
The Honor Roll tracks successful software companies based on long-term financial performance. The report compares the financial performance of all 503 publicly traded software companies on the U.S. stock exchanges in 2005 and shows that OPNET is one of seven software companies to have recorded at least eleven consecutive years of growth and profitability. Other software companies in the ranking included Microsoft, #1 with 25 years of profitable growth, and Business Objects, #4 with 14 years of profitable growth.
According to the report, “Of all the software companies on the U.S. stock exchanges--NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ--only 20 out of 503 in 2005 managed to achieve a record of five consecutive years or more of profitable growth. As a group, reflecting their overall success, the Honor Roll members significantly outperform the industry averages. While the software industry as a whole had little revenue growth at 4%, this group on average grew at 8%. If you omit Microsoft from this list, the other 19 companies had an unusually high growth rate of 31%. And while the industry's net revenue grew 20%, net revenue for the Honor Roll group grew at a rate more than double that of 43%.”
