OPNET Announces Record Attendance at OPNETWORK® 2006
10th Annual Technology Conference Marks Company’s 20th Anniversary
BETHESDA, MD – September 11, 2006 – OPNET Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPNT), a leading provider of management software for networks and applications, today announced record attendance at OPNETWORK® 2006, its 10th annual technology conference focused on intelligent analysis of networks, applications, and systems.
OPNETWORK 2006 was held from August 28th to September 1st in Washington, DC at the Ronald Reagan International Conference Center. More than 2,000 people from 35 countries participated in the conference. Attendees included OPNET users, technical and business leaders, and engineering practitioners representing corporate and government enterprises, defense agencies and contractors, network service providers, and network equipment manufacturers.
The conference included more than 650 hours of classes, labs, panels, and case studies. Hundreds of OPNET customers authored case studies or technical papers for the conference. OPNET engineers also provided demonstrations of OPNET’s latest software release during lectures and hands-on labs. Topics included application performance management, network operations, capacity planning and design, and network R&D.
Conference participants also celebrated OPNET’s 20th anniversary.
OPNET’s milestones over the past 20 years include:
- 1986: Predecessor company founded as MIL 3, Inc. by Alain Cohen, Marc Cohen, and Steven Baraniuk
- 1987: First sale of OPNET software to MITRE Corporation; opening of first corporate office in Washington, D.C.
- 1997: First OPNETWORK conference
- 2000: Company re-named OPNET Technologies; IPO in August of 2000 cited as Ninth Best IPO of 2000 by ipo.com
- 2001: OPNET moves to new headquarters in Bethesda, MD; acquires MAKE Systems
- 2002: OPNET acquires WDM NetDesign
- 2004: OPNET acquires Altaworks
- 2005: OPNET announces CISCO worldwide distribution agreement
- 2006: OPNET ends its fiscal year with 433 employees worldwide and annual revenue of $76.1 million
