![]() OPNET Announces New System-in-the-Loop Software for Inter-operability Testing, Training, and Wargaming Exercises BETHESDA, MD – December 13, 2005 – OPNET Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPNT) and BAE Systems today jointly announced an agreement to provide a System-in-the-Loop (SITL) module for OPNET’s modeling and simulation products. SITL provides a simple “plug and play” interface that connects live applications or network devices, such as military radios, to OPNET simulations. SITL extends OPNET’s best-in-class simulation technology to support application and network device testing for equipment manufacturers, as well as training and exercise for the defense community. The foundation of OPNET SITL is based on licensed technology from BAE Systems, originally developed to support defense programs such as FCS, JTRS, WIN-T, and Network-Centric Enterprise Services. Benefits include reduced program testing costs, shorter test schedules, reduced program risks, and increased test scenario scalability. In addition, SITL facilitates rapid development of training systems for new technologies. John Deal, Director for C4ISR Systems Engineering/CTO, Communications & Information Systems, stated, “BAE Systems has pioneered the use of OPNET simulations in online hardware-in-the-loop environments. Since 1998, members of BAE Systems have been enhancing the capability to interface simulation models to real hardware and software systems. We have also developed a distributed simulation capability to enable modeling of large-scale networks in real time. This new agreement will enable OPNET’s large installed base of users to take advantage of our work in these areas.” Alain J. Cohen, OPNET’s President and CTO, stated, “The new SITL software will significantly simplify the process of connecting OPNET to live systems. The SITL workflow will result in rapid and lower-cost testing, training, and wargaming exercises for our defense and equipment manufacturer customers.” Availability ### About OPNET Technologies, Inc.
