and Capacity Planning Solutions at CMG Conference

Demonstrations of OPNET's new 11.0 product release, including integrations
with acquired Altaworks technologies

LAS VEGAS, NV – December 09, 2004 – At CMG 2004 this week, OPNET Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPNT), a leading provider of management software for networks and applications, is demonstrating major enhancements to its performance management and capacity planning solutions. CMG 2004 is an international event that brings together industry visionaries and technology experts to share ideas and experiences in the performance optimization, resource management, and capacity planning fields.

OPNET’s exhibit features powerful and unique new capabilities:

  • New 11.0 release of IT Guru and System Modeling suites, enabling capacity planning for distributed systems and mainframe environments. System workload and performance information can be imported from popular tools by BMC, HP, IBM, Concord, and NetIQ, as well as from XML.
  • New OPNET Commander product (from the Altaworks acquisition) for active application response time and availability monitoring. OPNET Commander integrates with OPNET’s award-winning ACE technology for automated application performance troubleshooting. ACE is also compatible with popular third-party application response time monitoring products, such as HP OpenView Internet Services.
  • New OPNET Panorama product (from the Altaworks acquisition) for realtime application performance analytics. Panorama simplifies the troubleshooting process for systems performance specialists, especially for J2EE applications. OPNET Panorama integrates with ACE to provide in-depth, end-to-end application performance diagnostics.
  • New System Performance Module for HP OpenView for seamless import of workload data from HP Openview Performance Manager to support systems planning.
  • New ACE Whiteboard for end-to-end application modeling throughout the application lifecycle, from design to production.
  • MXG import utility for import of RMF workload data to support mainframe performance and capacity planning studies.
  • New application analysis supported in ACE for Web Services (SOAP, UDDI, MS .NET) and CORBA.
  • New network Planning and Design module for traffic trending, automated resilient link dimensioning, and other valuable design actions.
