![]() OPNET Teams with MÃK Technologies’ for New Distributed Warfare Simulation Capabilities OPNET confirms interoperability of its HLA module with MÄK Technologies’ market-leading runtime infrastructure BETHESDA, MD– September 16, 2003 --OPNET Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPNT), a leading provider of management software for networks and applications, today announced the completion of interoperability testing of its HLA module with MÄK Technologies’ RTI. By using the MÄK RTI, OPNET’s customers can more effectively simulate the network-centric warfare environment by incorporating communications effects into force-on-force simulations, hardware-in-the-loop studies, and training applications. The U.S. Defense Modeling and Simulation Office’s (DMSO) High Level Architecture (HLA) is a standard for distributed simulations to support warfare analysis and planning. The RTI provides a set of services used by simulators and simulations to coordinate their operations and data exchange during runtime execution. The MAK RTI has been verified by DMSO as HLA compliant. Yev Gurevich, Vice President of Engineering at OPNET, stated, “Our defense industry clients are interested in using the HLA standard for simulating the network-centric warfare environment. We are pleased to be working closely with MÄK, a pioneer in the field of distributed simulations for the defense community.” Warren Katz, COO of MÄK, added, “We're very pleased that OPNET, the leading vendor of analysis software for battlefield networks, has selected the MÄK RTI to provide their HLA networking. The two products represent the best of their respective breeds, and their combination will provide the best commercial option for integrated C4ISR performance analysis.” Availability OPNET’s currently available HLA module for OPNET Modeler 10.0 is compatible with the MÄK RTI.
