![]() OPNET Introduces VNE Server, New Solution for Intelligent Network Data Management BETHESDA, MD -- June 4, 2002 -- OPNET Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPNT), the leading provider of intelligent network management software, today announced the Virtual Network Environment (VNE) Server, an advanced solution for intelligent network data management. OPNET VNE Server provides an on-line, continuously valid, integrated view of enterprise and service provider networks. Extensible data collection Adapters support a broad range of information sources, including network management platforms, leading performance management tools, as well as "home-grown" applications and data stores. VNE Server also collects live data directly from network devices. VNE Server will complement OPNET IT Guru and SP Guru products by providing a comprehensive source of network data. "Enterprises and Service Providers face a major challenge today in managing multiple, disparate sources of network data" according to Alain Cohen, OPNET President & CTO. "We can provide tremendous value-add to our users by enhancing the quality of the data that supports our intelligent network management solutions, as well as other critical management processes." "VNE Server is the first commercially available product for managing network traffic, topology, and configuration data in one integrated environment," stated Jerry Stiffler, OPNET's Vice President of Engineering and chief architect of VNE Server. "Unlike other solutions that have focused on a fixed set of network technologies or data sources, VNE Server will provide a user-extensible solution that can ultimately encompass virtually any data source." Advanced features include: flexible access to detailed network information including topology, hardware and software configuration information, and network utilization data; intelligent data merge; real-time status updates for data management activities based on powerful filtering; notification of exception conditions, including data conflicts and changes; archiving of historical information to provide an "audit trail" of network changes; and automated, unattended operations via sophisticated scheduling and self-maintenance.
