OPNETWORK2001 Tokyo Expands Reach of World's Largest Event for Network Design, Modeling & Management to Japanese Marketplace

TOKYO, JAPAN —December 7, 2001 -- OPNET Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPNT) the leading provider of intelligent network management software, today announced that its partner, E3 Networks (owned by Mitsui & Co.) has just completed OPNETWORK2001 Tokyo — an extension of the world's largest event focused exclusively on network design, modeling, and management.

Held on November 29th in the Ginza district of Tokyo, this inaugural event for the Japanese market emulated OPNETWORK —the world's largest gathering for network design, modeling, and management, hosted each year by OPNET Technologies in Washington D.C. OPNETWORK2001 Tokyo focused on intelligent network management for service providers and enterprises, with a special emphasis on OPNET products IT Guru and SP Guru. The latest software and methodologies from OPNET, as well as case studies from the OPNET user community, were discussed with more than 200 attendees from service providers and enterprises in Japan.

"OPNETWORK2001 Tokyo was a tremendous success," stated Joseph Lenz, Vice President of International Sales at OPNET. "Our partners and customers in Japan did an outstanding job replicating the excitement, technical excellence, and execution of the OPNETWORK 2001 event we hosted in Washington D.C. earlier this year. Our software solutions enable enterprises and service providers to optimize the performance and cost efficiency of their applications and network infrastructures. The current economic challenges and budget constraints facing IT managers and network operators is making our technology more critical than ever before."

Also commenting on today's announcement, Taro Ishiguro, President of E3 Networks Ltd., said, "Along with our partners, including Johokobo Inc., we are proud to be affiliated with OPNET Technologies, Inc. As the OPNET's top distribution partner worldwide, E3 Networks is especially encouraged to see such an outstanding turnout for our OPNETWORK2001 Tokyo event. More than 80 percent of the attendees appear to be new prospects for our SP Guru and IT Guru solutions. The value proposition offered by OPNET's products makes them a natural fit for Japan's sophisticated IT and telecommunications managers."

Three tracks tailored to meet the needs of service provider operations and planning engineers offered focused customer case studies, product demonstrations and hands-on workshops.

Keynote speakers at OPNETWORK2001 Tokyo included:

  • Dr. Hiroshi Yamada, Senior Engineer, NTT
  • Fred Salz, Associate Partner, Accenture
  • Todd Kaloudis, Vice President, OPNET Technologies, Inc.
