![]() OPNET Technologies Joins Juniper Networks IP OSS Alliance OPNET and Juniper Networks Agree on Product Roadmap for Ongoing Intelligent Network Management Support of Juniper Networks Technology BETHESDA, MD - August 30, 2001 - OPNET Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPNT), the leading provider of intelligent network management software, today announced that it has joined the Juniper Networks (Nasdaq: JNPR) IP OSS Alliance Program (IOA). Launched in July of this year, IOA brings together more than 20 third-party IP OSS software vendors to help Internet operators flexibly manage their complex multi-vendor networks and enable new smart IP services on Juniper Networks routers. The alliance has quickly gained recognition for providing benefits to both service provider customers and participating partner vendors alike. "We've relied on Juniper Networks and OPNET for years to ensure that our network performance and availability stay within tightly defined service levels. We anticipate new value and better return from our existing investments in both OPNET's software and Juniper Networks routers now that the two have a closer relationship," stated David Garbin, Senior Director of Strategic Network Planning at Cable & Wireless. In choosing an IOA partner, service providers and carriers are selecting a vendor with access to the latest resources necessary to test and verify a solution that will be extensible and supported on Juniper Networks routers. Partners benefit from joint marketing of infrastructure applications and reference selling opportunities. "We're pleased to recognize OPNET in our alliance program. We believe OPNET products will enable network planning and operations groups within our service provider and carrier market segments to better optimize operations of their Juniper Networks infrastructure," stated Kevin Dillon, Director of Product Marketing, Juniper Networks. OPNET's SP Guru and IT Guru solutions which aid in configuration troubleshooting, change validation, predictive planning and design optimization already support Juniper Networks router configuration import for automated model generation; standard Juniper Networks device models for hybrid simulation; NetDoctor rules for identifying incorrect settings and subsequent validation of any changes to Juniper Networks configuration files; and as a result of the recent Make Systems acquisition, analytical models of Juniper Networks specific implementations of protocols including MPLS. OPNET's IP OSS Alliance Program agreement includes a roadmap of future OPNET product enhancements that present high value to the two companies' respective customers. Commenting on today's announcement, Pradeep Singh, Senior Vice President of Model R&D at OPNET stated, "OPNET's laboratory for protocol research and model validation now includes Juniper Networks equipment. Our company is fully committed to enhancing the performance, reliability and efficiency of networks that incorporate Juniper Networks technology." About OPNET Technologies, Inc.
