![]() OPNET Technologies Announces Next-Generation ERP Planning and Performance Optimization Software Network Assessment Module to Provide Predictive Visibility into Infrastructure Capacity, Application Flow and Usage Patterns to Enable Optimized Deployments and Proactive ManagementWASHINGTON, D.C. -- August 30, 2000 -- OPNET Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPNT), a provider of intelligent network management software, today announced the upcoming release of its ERP Network Assessment Module (ENAM), providing ERP administrators and IT managers with unprecedented predictive capability to prepare their IT infrastructures for successful ERP deployments. The announcement was made at OPNETWORK 2000, the company's fourth annual technology conference being held from August 28th through September 1st. "ERP systems can be valuable business assets when deployed properly; our new ENAM software is designed to eliminate the unknowns and mitigate the risks inherent in large ERP implementations," said Mike Powers, Vice President, Solutions Group at OPNET. "ENAM enables our customers to achieve peak performance from their ERP implementations while also preventing the unintended performance degradation of other networked applications, ensuring consistent and uninterrupted service levels." ENAM will be the next generation of OPNET's ERP NetworkGuru for SAP R/3. The software's new name reflects the fact that it can be used to optimize any three-tier ERP application, including systems from Peoplesoft and SAP. ENAM, an add-on module for OPNET's IT DecisionGuru software, will complement the company's Application Characterization Environment (ACE). The ENAM/ACE combination will enable OPNET customers to troubleshoot existing ERP systems quickly and easily by capturing live application data. ACE identifies likely causes of performance problems and offers recommended remedies. "In the world of e-business, it's becoming increasingly difficult to separate networks from the networked applications they support," said Powers. "ENAM provides the visibility necessary to understand the complex interactions between network protocols, multiple applications competing for limited bandwidth, and the network fabric. The result is invaluable information that IT professionals can use to make business users more productive and gain more utility from ERP systems."
