More Companies Develop Integrated Solutions Utilizing Netscout Systems' Application Flow Management and Art MIB

ISVs Align with NetScout Systems to Deliver Critical Business Management Solutions

WESTFORD, Mass., May 10, 1999 -- NetScout Systems, Inc., a leader in end-to-end Application Flow Management for the enterprise network, today announced that two new Independent Software Vendors are developing integrated products which leverage NetScout's application-aware instrumentation. The companies - MIL 3, Inc. and Proactive Networks - have aligned with NetScout Systems to deliver a broad range of business management solutions that address service-level management, and application monitoring and prediction.

Enrollment of the new members in the NetScout Alliance Partners Program broadens the market availability of network management solutions that address critical business work-flows and operations.

"We are very pleased to see this level of commitment from industry-leading management vendors. They are recognizing the need for and taking advantage of application-aware instrumentation," said Michael Szabados, vice president of marketing at NetScout Systems. "It validates our approach to monitoring application flows from the network perspective and introduces new and powerful solutions to manage business-critical application deployments."

Application Flow Data Enhances MIL 3's Decision-Support Capabilities for Assessing Committed Service Levels

MIL 3's IT DecisionGuru software helps IT professionals make confident, timely decisions regarding networking policies and service-level commitments by allowing network managers to predict future performance of networks and networked applications. NetScout's application-aware instrumentation strengthens these projections by providing information which helps IT DecisionGuru create an application-flow model that mirrors the real world.

"MIL 3 is always looking for new ways to enhance the IT decision support we provide to customers and we believe that integration with NetScout's application-aware instrumentation is an important step in this process," said Marc Cohen, chairman and CEO of MIL 3, Inc. "NetScout is extending the value of IT DecisionGuru by providing business-critical application-flow data."

Proactive Networks Uses NetScout Systems' ART MIB to Enhance Baselining and Trending Capabilities

Proactive Networks' Pronto Watch continuously monitors business-critical network infrastructure and application services for availability and service level degradation. Proactive will extend network and application baselining and trending using NetScout's ART MIB instrumentation technology. Using ART MIB data, Pronto Watch will monitor actual application flows from key aggregate points in the network. This gives IT managers additional choices for accurately predicting performance in their environment.

"Our relationship with NetScout Systems extends the types of application response time data that Pronto Watch analyzes," said Ajay Singh, president and CEO of Proactive Networks. "Using information from NetScout's ART MIB, along with data from Pronto Watch's intelligent baselining technology, our customers can find and fix potential application trouble spots before they affect user productivity."
