CADENCE Extends Network Modeling And Simulation Solution With MIL 3's OPNET Modeler
SAN JOSE, Calif. - May 13, 1999 -- Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NYSE:CDN) and MIL 3, Inc. today announced an agreement to deliver abstract system performance modeling and simulation capabilities for communications networks to Cadence BONeS® designer customers. Cadence will sell MIL 3's OPNET Modeler software, which will adopt the IEEE 1499 open modeling interface (OMI) standard for interfacing to the Cadence Affirma™ NC hardware description language (HDL) simulators and the Cierto™ signal processing work system (SPW).
"Our customers are asking for significant productivity improvements for initial and derivative designs. OPNET Modeler lets us meet our customer needs in the abstract simulation space while we focus on shortening time to market through concurrent hardware/software (HW/SW) design and integration-driven reuse of intellectual property," said Jose Fernandez, director of marketing for system level products for Cadence.
"The relationship between Cadence and MIL 3 further solidifies OPNET Modeler's leadership position in network modeling and analysis," said Steve Johnson, vice president of marketing for MIL 3. "OPNET Modeler will provide Cadence customers with an environment that quickly and accurately validates system designs and significantly reduces product-development cost and time to market."
OPNET Modeler will replace the existing BONeS® designer product for abstract system performance modeling and analysis. Customers have the option of transitioning to OPNET Modeler, as well as access to the Cadence virtual component co-design (VCC) products, which incorporates portions of the BONeS designer technology. The VCC products will be available later this year and provide concurrent HW/SW design and integration-driven intellectual property (IP) reuse.
