Virtual Resources Standardizes on MIL 3's OPNET Planner
as Network Simulation Tool
Atlanta, GA, March 16, 1998 --
Virtual Resources, a leading technology services company, will offer its
customers advanced network analysis and capacity planning capabilities based
on MIL 3's OPNET Planner software.
OPNET Planner is a sophisticated tool used by networking professionals for
a wide range of applications, from front-end sales and capacity planning, to
network performance prediction. OPNET users can see how their networks will
perform, before committing to a network design or deploying new applications
or components - saving them time and money, and alerting them to the unexpected.
Virtual Resources will use OPNET as a foundation of its HealthScan Network
Health Analysis service. After using popular network management products to
capture data about the current traffic and topology of an existing network,
Virtual Resources' consultants will use Planner's SimFusion technology to automatically
construct a baseline model characterizing the current network. They will then
modify the baseline model and run simulations to show the predicted effects
of changes to the network, like adding new applications such as SAP or PeopleSoft.
"By standardizing on OPNET as a simulation tool, we will ensure consistency
in our services and results," said Dave Bailey, Director of Engineering
and Development at Virtual Resources.
"Using the most advanced tools available is a cost-effective technique
and will enable us to maximize the productivity of our engineers, giving us
a leg up on other consulting organizations. OPNET Planner is a great fit for
our needs because of its library of high-quality predefined models, which apply
across the vertical range of industries that we service - telecommunications,
business/finance, healthcare and education."
Marc Cohen, CEO and co-founder of MIL 3, said, "OPNET Planner is particularly
well-suited for professional services organizations. Our goal is to simplify
consultants' task by including models of applications and scenarios that they
encounter frequently. For example, we are completing a model oriented toward
issues faced in SAP deployment."
"We are pleased to work with Virtual Resources - a leader in this field," Cohen
continued. "The type of widespread organizational use that OPNET Planner
will receive at Virtual will also provide us with feedback that will be invaluable
to the progress of the product's development."
