Tekelec Selects OPNET for SS7-over-IP Capacity
Planning
Tekelec is a leading developer of now and next-generation switching
and signaling telecommunications solutions, business intelligence
tools and value-added applications.
As the telecom industry transitions from legacy to next-generation
networks, Tekelec, a leading telecom solutions provider relies
on OPNET for its signaling system 7 (SS7)-over-Internet protocol
(IP) capacity planning analysis to help customers plan and implement
SS7-over-IP networks.
Tekelec leverages OPNET Modeler to design and dimension SS7
Sigtran IP network alternatives for planning purposes. Once the
infrastructure is designed, Tekelec will conduct flow-based studies
to validate capacity proposals and optimize network resources.
Modeler also is being used to develop and analyze SIP-based
SS7 signaling networks in the IP Multimedia Systems (IMS) environment.
“Our SS7-over-IP OPNET models enable us to accurately
represent the behavior of next-generation signaling technology
with high fidelity. Modeler’s detailed statistics give
us valuable insight into how design alternatives will perform
in realistic customer scenarios.”
