Senior Systems Performance Engineer
Position
The Senior Systems Performance Engineer will design, implement and execute validation processes and procedures to insure OPNET appliances meet software and hardware performance criteria. This includes analysis and reporting to document and drive product improvement projects. The Performance Engineer will also assist other engineers in identifying and improving software resource consumption. The right candidate should be ready to work on multiple projects in a fast moving environment with minimal supervision. We seek only outstanding and motivated engineers to develop and test our next-generation products.
Job responsibilities include an analysis of all key components of the appliance architecture to include kernel, database, user interface, and appliance support functions. Develop TCP/IP traffic profiles and the resulting network traffic generation to test and validate appliance performance limits. Continue the development and support of an embedded resource monitoring tool. Provide support for in-house and field personnel to isolate appliance performance issues. Produce regular status reports and updates for reporting to management.
Qualifications
Here’s what you should bring to the table:
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or Physics degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years direct experience in the design, development, and execution of system/software performance processes and the resulting analysis and reports
- Working knowledge of server technology with Unix operating systems on Intel platforms
- Expertise in a variety of performance test tools and scripting languages
- Fluent in implementing Unix Shell and Perl scripts
- Excellent understanding of Internet protocol suites
- Proven ability to analyze and trend performance and reliability results
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Enthusiasm for learning OPNET products and network management, network and systems planning, application troubleshooting, and network design
- Must be motivated to have an impact on our products, our company, and the state of the art.
