Thales Australia is part of the Thales Group, a world leader in mission-critical information
systems for the aerospace, defence, and security markets. Thales Australia is a research and
development leader in their market, generating annual revenues of approximately $650
million USD.
Communication protocols for military applications must be evaluated under realistic
network conditions to ensure optimum performance on the battlefield. Thales Australia
uses OPNET Modeler’s high-fidelity network modeling capabilities to study various
communication protocols including MIL-STD-188-184, a military communications protocol
designed to support high data throughput under noisy network conditions. Using
Modeler’s scalable simulation environment, Thales determines system capacity and
network performance in tactical networks with hundreds of stationary and mobile entities.
Thales leverages Modeler to compare network effects including bit error rates, latency, and
interference in a variety of network scenarios.
"OPNET Modeler is well
recognized as a state-of-the-art network modeling
and simulation tool in
defence communities in
Australia and across the
world. Modeler’s robust simulation
capabilities enable us to
comprehensively test the performance of
tactical communication networks,
ensuring that we deliver the best
solutions to support the warfighter.”
