Intel Egypt Uses OPNET Modeler®
to Develop Protocols for Public Safety and Emergency Response Applications
Intel case study
Intel, the world leader in silicon innovation, develops technologies, products, and initiatives to continually advance how people work and live. Intel manufactures computing and communications components, such as microprocessors, chipsets, motherboards, and wireless and wired connectivity products, as well as platforms that incorporate these components.
Public safety applications impose exacting requirements on the underlying wireless network architecture, including low delay and high reliability. Intel Egypt uses OPNET Modeler’s robust simulation environment to create a virtual test bed for evaluating new wireless public safety applications. Intel uses Modeler’s hierarchical modeling environment to model the entire protocol stack and accurately predict the performance of new scheduling algorithms. With Modeler’s integrated analysis and debugging capabilities, Intel is able to comprehensively test new protocols. Modeler produces a high-fidelity replica of the real world environment giving Intel deep visibility into end-to-end system performance.
“OPNET Modeler eliminates the need to build real test setups to design and evaluate our protocols and algorithms, saving us time and money. Modeler includes a broad library of models supported out-of-the-box while giving us the ability to quickly develop custom protocol and application models, significantly accelerating our network research.”
