Shanxi Mobile Achieves Better Back-Office Performance with OPNET
Shanxi Mobile is a subsidiary of China Mobile Limited, China’s leading mobile services provider, with the world's largest mobile network and mobile customer base. The Business Support Center at Shanxi Mobile is responsible for managing its custom Business Operation Support System (BOSS) application. BOSS is used by China Mobile offices across the country, providing services including mobile billing, settlement, accounting, business analysis, CRM, and other related services.
Shanxi Mobile installed OPNET’s AppResponse Xpert™ solution to obtain real-time, global visibility of all transactions and users across the enterprise. With the SLA dashboard, China Mobile can monitor end-user experience for each of its offices accessing BOSS. When performance thresholds are violated, the Response Time Composition Chart identifies the source of the problem, eliminating finger pointing and wasted time. Shanxi Mobile uses AppTransaction Xpert™ to analyze a single transaction to quickly and conclusively determine the root cause of a performance problem. This accelerates troubleshooting and minimizes resolution time, reducing the impact on customer service and staff productivity.
To get deeper visibility into BOSS, Shanxi implemented OPNET’s AppInternals Xpert™. With AppInternals Xpert’s component-level visibility and transaction tracing, Shanxi Mobile has significantly enhanced the performance of JSP pages that were degrading application response time. With AppInternals Xpert’s “always-on” memory analysis, Shanxi Mobile has effectively tuned Java’s memory usage to further improve performance of the BOSS application.
